What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend.

This year for Thanksgiving, my family is staying in town, which means my brothers are coming home for awhile! My Grandparents on my mama's side are coming in town, as well as my mama's brother and his family. My mama's brother has a son who is almost a year old and a 4 year old daughter who was born on Christmas. On Wednesday I'm going to my friend's family farm and we'll celebrate a day early. I hope to see the lights at the Plaza with friends as well. I'm looking forward to no homework and sweet potatoes.

On resume websites, I found that years of experience, location, skills, software used, previous jobs, examples of work, and education. I found a really interesting resume website: http://www.anniwang.com/. There may be a little too much information on this website, but it's really fun to navigate this site! Very well done.

Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design?

User Experience- Experience of a person using a product or service (Example:Computer or Website). While they are using it, think of how easy the website is for a user to navigate. Is there a navigation bar? Are FAQs answered already? Is the site attractive to the viewer? I included a picture of Kate Spade's website because of the simple layout, but fun design.

I think this quote is especially true when it comes to html format. A website must not only look good, it must also be functional and easy for the audience to use. If a shopping website has a complicated and unorganized layout, there is a good chance I won't be visiting that site in the future. Most people don't think about the design of a website, but I consider it a make it or break it factor.

On the first day of class, I knew nothing about web design. When we started our first website, I had no idea how much goes into a website! I learned what HTML and CSS are and what they do to make a website. I also learned how to code, which is extremely complicated! If I had looked at a code before this class, I would have thought it was a different language. I still have a long way to go, but I think knowing a little bit about web design will be beneficial to my future in business.

My weekend was fab! For Halloween I wore my St. James uniform from Freshman year for my Halloween costume. The uniform consists of knee socks, a plaid skirt, a collared shirt, and tie. I spent the night with some of my closest friends. Saturday was definitely shopping day for me! Sunday consisted of  church and football. All in all, a good weekend.

Friday night I worked until 6 and then went to the football game! Final score was 70 to 10 so it was a great game! Saturday my nana was in town so the two of us went down to the plaza. We love to shop and lunch together! Sunday morning was full of church and then work! That afternoon my friends and I went to the Louisburg Cider Mill. It was packed but the cider was worth it!

What kind of background do you have with Photoshop? Have you used it before? What other types of design and editing software have you used before? Explain.

I have not used photoshop before. I know that it is used for senior pictures. The only editing and designing software I have used are apps. I use instagram for filters on my pictures and also to crop pictures. The other app I have used is picstitch which just creates a collage of pictures for you. I'm excited to learn about the software we will be using to create our projects.

The perfect set of classes for me would all be business related. I want to live a successful life but also be able to raise a family at the same time! The course titles would probably be Finance, Marketing, Advertising, etc. I would love to learn more about the business world, since it changes rapidly. I would spend my class time talking to people such as clients or customers. These classes would differ from my 1st through 4th hour, but be very similar to CAPS Global Business that I am currently in.

The last sentence does not sit well with me: "I am not going to go out and buy the overpriced floral-patterned potato sack that is Lilly Pulitzer just so the boys around me can focus." I wear Lilly Pulitzer almost everyday. Lilly is quality hence the prices. Potato sack? It's called a sheath dress and Jackie O started the trend. I doubt Jackie O would have worn a potato sack.

My weekend went by too fast as usual! On Friday I "met" Sam and Colby at Chipotle. Of course we took pictures. After that I hung out with friends. On Saturday I worked and went to Church. That night my friends and I had a movie night and bonfire! Roasting marshmellows outside is the definition of fall for me. Sunday I worked at my church as well as my job. Later that day, I finally did some homework and watched the Royals game.

My Homecoming weekend was amazing but it went by super quickly! On Friday night I watched the football game where we won 42 to 7! On Saturday I worked for a little, went to church, then proceeded to get ready for Homecoming in 35 minutes. Pictures were at Geyser Park and dinner was delicious at Herford House.  After dinner we went to the dance and had lots of fun!

On Friday I worked until 5:45 and left immediately after that with some friends to go to the football game at Miege! It was a camo out, so we all had army green on! After the game we had a surprise party for my friend April at her house! On Saturday I worked, then hung out with friends. Later that night we went to the talent show and of course Chipotle followed this event. On Sunday I went to Church, worked, and went to Chipotle with a friend for a late lunch. My mom's birthday is this week, so my brothers came home, and all 5 of us went to a family dinner at Pinstripes! We don't get to spend time as a family much anymore, so I loved having everyone together. After dinner I went to sonic with some of my friends from CAPS. So excited for homecoming this weekend!

Now that you are several weeks in to this class and have coded one (super small) website, what do you think? What are your thoughts on web design? Is it what you thought it would be? Is it better? Worse? What's your favorite part? What's your least favorite part? Explain.

Coding a website is incredibly more hard than I thought it would be. Web Design is all about the details. I thought it would be an easy class, but it is the furthest thing from that. This class is really hard for me! Before this class, I was not very good with computers. I'm still not good with computers, but hey I'm getting a little bit better. I really like decorating my websites with fonts, colors and pictures. My least favorite part is remembering which codes to use when and entering all of the codes so that they work together.

What is the importance of deadlines? How do high school deadlines reflect or simulate "real world" experience? Give an example of when you met or or didn't meet a deadline that was important.

Deadlines are extremely important to any career because efficiency is needed by every project! Having a distant deadline may seem like you can slack off and not do a little but of the project every day or so, but that is certainly not the case. High School and College are all about deadlines as well. Deadlines for projects, tests, assignments are all too frequent in high school. Recently I applied for College credit at JCCC for my CAPS Global Business courses. There was a strict deadline of September 12th. If I didn't meet that deadline, I was out 7 credit hours for college next year. 7 hours that was significantly cheaper than regular college courses but still counted the same!

Last year I failed a Chemistry test because I didn't prepare as much as I should have. Chemistry was always a hard class for me, meaning I needed to study hours and hours to retain information. I learned after this test to always prepare while in advanced for Chemistry. Failing is something humans do naturally, so It's okay to fail sometimes. If you prepare and still fail, at least you put in the effort.

This weekend went by incredibly fast! On Friday I worked then I went to the football game. The best part about my Friday was that we beat West 30-13! On Saturday I worked and then I went to the soccer game at BVNW. We also won that game! That night I had a good time hanging out with friends. On Sunday I went to church and work and then the Packer game was on! All in all a great weekend.

I completely agree with what this picture is saying! I have said "I'm bored" probably a thousand times in my life, but it's time to stop saying that useless phrase. There is so much to do just in our town, let alone state, The Midwest has a reputation of being boring, but there is plenty to do in Kansas, especially in fall. I love Kansas in the fall since there are lots of cider mills and pumpkin patches near by. Two of my favorite things to do in fall are seeing the Christmas lights turn on at the plaza and the other is to go to the Louisburg Cider Mill with a big group of friends.

This weekend I went to the football game on Friday. We won 29 to 0! The win was definitely worth the 30 minute drive to Shawnee Mission! On Saturday I went to a self defense class at the Royals stadium with Annie and then went out to dinner that night. I had a lazy Sunday and saw a few friends and attempted to do some homework.

Going into this class I had no clue about Web Design, so pretty much everything is new to me. HTML and <!DOC TYPE> were foreign words to me before this class. I would like to learn how to make a background on a website! By the end of the semester I would like to learn how to produce my own website from scratch. I hope to go into business, and knowing how to create a website would be an important skill to have.

This Labor Day weekend went by too fast but it was a fabulous weekend! After CAPS on Friday, I nannied until around 6. The BV vs. BVW soccer game was at 6:30 so I ran home to put on some beach themed clothes (Lilly Pulitzer and some leis). The game was super fun to watch and cheer on my friends. Sadly we lost, but I can't wait till Thursday for the next game! I spent Saturday with my friend and then at night we went out to dinner with his family! Sunday was spent with my best friend at Clinton Lake and then at her family's house for dinner. Monday was homework day but I also saw friends that day!

I thought this newspaper clipping was really motivating especially at this point in my life. Senior year is all about fun, and it can be easy to get caught in the thick of it and expect everything to be all fun and games. I transferred to BVHS my sophomore year and I couldn't be happier that I did. As soon as I transferred I joined the golf team and met many of my good friends today on the team! I am a senior this year which is absolutely crazy to think about. CAPS is my favorite class because I feel like I have an actual job in this internship. I dress up everyday and have a lot more freedom and responsibility at CAPS. I am looking forward to meeting the people I haven't met in my graduating class! The year is already going by too fast. I am hopeful to attend Baylor University or University of Arkansas next fall.

As of right now, I only know how to change the look of a blog in form of text size, font and colors. Before this class, I knew what HTML phrases were but only to a certain degree. I know how to link up images and websites from Emerging Tech last semester. I would like to explore the gadgets section of my blog and add a few gadgets! This semester I would like to be able to create a business website that looks clean and orderly. I believe if you are a business owner, your website needs to be easy to navigate and somewhat OCD.

FINAL PROJECT

For my final in Emerging Tech I was assigned a family heritage project. This final consisted of five smaller projects that show what I learned this semester.

Next I wrote an email to my maternal grandparents and asked them questions about their grandparents and parents. A copy of that email is found in this link: Email

Monday May 5th

I really enjoyed watching this video, because it made me look at life in a different way.  It made me think about how much time I spend on my phone or computer in a day. Time I could have spent with friends and family, or even doing something beneficial. Entertainment doesn't have to come from a screen. It could be a book, people or exercise. Eye contact is healthy for the human mind. Screens aren't.

This article really makes me think. It makes me view my teachers in a different light. Not that I didn't think they cared before, but now I know to what extent they care. They want me to succeed in life, in more ways than just getting good grades. Becoming a strong person is the goal of education. The main event of school is encouraging you to  be the best person you can be. Quitting isn't acceptable. Teachers don't want to see their students fail or even quiver. After reading this article, I see just how good of a support system I have.

I really like how my stop motion animation project turned out! The opening credits and ending credits are my favorite aspects. Certain music didn't work. I learned how to pace a animation and different effects to apply to projects.

My five frame story board is the making of a sandwich. I like the simplicity of my project.  I dislike the peanut butter picture because it was very hard to make the image look nice. The light didn't do that photo justice. It was a little hard to tell a story in just 5 photos, so I had to keep my story simple. I tell a very clear story because it is something everyone is familiar with. I would choose different lighting next time.

My spring break was fabulous! I didn't go anywhere tropical so I started off spring break by getting a spray tan with Morgan. I then left for Wisconsin with my dad to see relatives. After we got back, my mom and I left for Texas to do some college tours! I saw TCU, Baylor, and OU. My best friend Sam, who goes to school at Rockhurst, went with us! The significance of an infographic is to relay information in a fun and interesting way! Colors and pictures are used to catch the readers eye, as well as their attention. Graphics and information being paired together does the exact same thing! Big bold lettering will stay in the readers mind and cause them to think. A lasting impression is the goal of an infographic so the reader spreads awareness of the topic.

Infographics are used to organize statistics and make them fun and interesting to read! The benefits of an infographic is that your information is condensed to one document! Pictures, statistics, chats, etc. can all go into an infographic.

My Global Issue Paper

My global issue was Obesity. Obesity is a very relevant issue in the world today, especially the United States. Causes include genetics, lack of exercise and eating poorly.Obesity can be prevented by exercising regularly and eating right.  Teaching children the joys of healthy eating is the first step in prevention. If we want a healthy world we must spread awareness about this potential fatal disorder.

My paper on Obesity is complete! It was easy to write because I took a lot of time to do my outline. The outline organized my thoughts into categories, which turned into paragraphs.

 I went to sweetheart with one of my best friends, Carson. I wore a hot pink dress and he wore a hot pink bow tie! My shoes were bright blue too so I had a lot of color goin on. 15 couples came to my house for pictures and then we all went to Kyotos, which was amazing! We went to the dance just in time to see the sweetheart king and queen crowned! The after party was really fun, too!

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!

This three day weekend was full of friends and work! I spent the majority of my time with my friend and our T.A. Morgan. I asked my date to Sweetheart this weekend by presenting him with a hot pink bow tie to perfectly match my dress. To say he was thrilled is an understatement. I worked everyday this weekend at Grace Gardens Nursing Home where I have been working for 3 years. Morgan and I went to the KU vs. OSU basketball game on Saturday. Allen Fieldhouse was packed! On Sunday and Monday nights I watched the Keeping Up with The Kardashians season premiere as well as the Rich Kids of Beverly Hills premiere on E! Needless to say, I'm in love with both of those shows.

I didn't know what Google Drive and Google Presentation were before this class. I like how Google Presentation saves itself and is online versus an app for your computer. I'm not familiar with the tools on Google Presentation, but hopefully will be by the end of the semester. Yes, it is better than PowerPoint.

This semester I want to learn how to create a blog that is infused with my personality and isn't just Times New Roman font. I want to walk away with the knowledge to create a fashion blog outside of this class. I want to improve my computer skills because I plan to go into International Business and will use a computer to do the majority of my work.
